Today is another one of those days where I am drawing a bit of a blank. It is sometimes hard to be creative and to endure, when you just don't feel like it. I suppose when I am scrapping, I should return to the classics. People usually talk about their influences or whatever. I suppose I should mention my outside influences in my work. I am normally very influenced by everything that was on TV when I was small. From time to time, I dream about it.
There was but a few shows that I perceived as interesting. This was before I learned English. Now, that I look at some of them again, now they are pretty boring and the like. It is interesting how everything looks a little worse when you get older. There are a few exceptions. I am not going to go on, about specific shows. It is not as if they are that influential. The shows I see refer mostly to my aesthetics. I just aim at making stuff that look interesting, and aren't boring.
Book wise, I always look onto the works of Stefan Zweig for inspiration. He wrote about his process in one of his biographies called The World of Yesterday. He usually started with a long story, and then he trimmed the fat. Writers are too in love with their works to trim it. Details are fun, except when they are only interesting to the author. There is such as thing as pointless, boring details. The best example of complete pointlessness is the work of Anton Chekov.
I was unfortunate enough to read some of his works in school. He was a real boring fellow. This is not to say that even great writers make mistakes. Even my favorite had really boring stories and biographies. I knew he wasn't in a mood to writer, when he started his story stating this fact. And, now, I am also in that particular mood. Aside from Zweig, I also like HP Lovecraft. He was a racist douche, but he at least wrote some solid short stories.
He lived in New York and he hated it. He died poor and alone. He only because famous 20 years after his death. Even today, he is quite influential. There is a lot of video games, comics and TV shows based on his works. Those two writers are the only ones who have a lot of readability for me, aside from Cervantes and his Don Quixote. Painting wise, I like most of the painters from the Victorian Era. As long as they paint something that looks like something, I am for it. So, this is about it.
