There is a building epidemic in South Florida. Everywhere I look they are gutting the streets and making new buildings. I would think it were dandy if I did not distrust politicians. Through building permits, the politicians can make a truckload of money for each building made. It is not the most effective way of getting money towards their Cayman Island secret accounts, but the fools here do not know any better. They should play Tropico.
Their little schemes was brought to light due to the tragedy of the FIU bridge. Ideally, it was supposed to help the students cross the roads from an apartment complex to the main campus. I got to tell you that bridge was ridiculous. It had fans, Wifi, sitting stations, the works. It had all those additions to excuse the 12 million cost. Why in the hell should a bridge cost 12 million. Fancier bridges get made all over the world, and do not cost 12 million.
Everyone was getting a slice of the money cake. It is a pity that 6 poor souls had to perish for their practices to be expose. Now people in Florida have bridge phobia. It did not help that Marco Rubio said that other buildings were made using that same technology. It is not the first time that a bridge has tumbled down. It happened a couple of years back in an overpass. There was also the incident were an entire floor of a parking lot tumbled down.
It is not their fault. In the end, the voters are to blame. People want to live normal lives worrying about their own problems. It is this desire to live a life without complications that lives them exposed to opportunists, with pretty words and beautiful haircuts. Remember, always be wary of well spoken, seemingly well- meaning individuals. I prefer the faceless good Samaritans, than the guy in the podium screaming, "I am a holy and righteous".
