Over the last couple of days, I was looking up tutorials for pouring paintings. With the videos, it did go a little better than my first try at that medium. Since I was still practicing, I decided to do tiny paintings. I usually prefer smaller paintings, because it uses up less paint.
With larger works, I start getting desperate, and annoyed. I had that first feeling about it, when I painted the Virgin Mary. I used my first big canvas. It took about two weeks to complete the painting.
I even started to get a little bit nervous with my last painting. In yonder time, I used to enjoy the process of creating a work. I was like that with my silly sketches.
I took about three months to sketch a Yugioh Card named Kiryu. It was a pretty cool dragon card. I have a photo of the sketch somewhere in an old deviant art account.
I do not bother with fan arts so much anymore. It seems like a waste of time, if you cannot monetize it, in any way. Still, I do miss making something because I actually enjoyed it.
Anyhow, the long and short it, to break the monotony of my nonsense, I decided to try to do some mini pouring paintings. The paints are Mont Marte. They brought out a line of acrylic pouring paints.
They work more or less well, but they require mediums to make them flow a lot better. With these paints, I used the last bit of pouring Liquitex medium I had. I had been using that pouring medium as a binding agent for my glitter paints.
The medium bonded well with the Mont Marte paints. The Canvas is US Art supply. I hope this information about the art supplies I used is somewhat useful for you.
Even when the paints say that they are ready to be poured, it is always better to add more acrylic pouring medium into the mix. IT is a good way to extend the colors.
As with most pouring mediums, I got more paint on me, than on the actual Canvas. It was a real messy work. I am always thinking up nonsense, when I work.
Despite the paints looking random, there is a method to the madness. It is all about understanding fluid dynamics. I learned a lot about it from Dragon Quest Builder 2.
That game was all about managing water, and lava. The first painting I used a straw to make the shapes. I blew wind into the straw to make the fluid paint ripple. From time to time, I added a bit more blue, when the black became more dominant.
When the painting ended up looking good, I called it a day. With the second painting, I first did the black background. I then tilted the canvas to the side, and then I added the stream that you see.
Along the way, I made a mistake, and I added some more paint splatters to the side. The accident ended up being quite happy indeed, and so I went with it. The red, gold, and black one also followed in a similar suit.
You can see the way the painting was tilted by the placement of the golden slashes. I think that one came out pretty neat. The one with a white background, and a silly shape was made using strings.
I placed them with some paint on top of them, and then I dragged the strings till the paint got that shape. The other painting with a similar color is a another side ways type of painting.
The strong contrasting golden color was used very loosely. The final purple one I used a tortillon to drag the purple from the middle to the edges of the painting. I am not certain if it came out good or not.
Of the first paintings that I made, I liked the first one and the third one best. I made this first set of six paintings all in the same night. We were watching a terribly boring movie. I usually paint or draw at night.
I usually do so, just after dinner. I wait about half an hour for the digestion to occur. If I start drawing too soon, I get indigestion. It has to do with the way I tilt my body to work.
I need to get real close to the paper, to make sense of what I am making. Perhaps, I might need glasses or something. Anyhow, if this keeps up I might end up with a hunch bigger than Quasimodo’s.
Not that it matters too much in the scheme of my life. In a couple of days, I am going to show you the next six batch of painting. I could have dedicated a blog for each, but I just did not feel like it. It really is just abstract type of work. There is no point in digging too much into it.
I can’t say there was a particular emotion behind each individual piece of art. Lately, I am just trying not to feel too much, except focus. Focus is something nice to work with.
I am always up to something or other. I can get through the day by focusing on one task or another. Focusing on something is a great way to avoid doom and gloom.
Aside from the paintings, I am working on the last Volume of the Furies. I am also brainstorming Volume 2 of the Scary Cat Children’s Book. I am thinking of serializing it. I am also editing the second to last of Saturnastra book.
When I started writing the series, I really thought I was doing fantasy, but the publisher thinks it is a First Contact type of alien story. I suppose there are some things that cannot be helped.
I think this is about it as far as my nonsense is concerned. IF you are having a terrible time with the world, I hope that my advice about focusing on something helps you cope with your problems without needing therapy or medication.
