Today, I wanted to show you the latest pride month pouring painting flags. It was an interesting project to say the least. I am always struggling to come up with a theme for my pouring paintings.

I have the techniques. I just need to figure out what colors I want to add to the painting. So, in honor of pride month, I made these pride flag themed pouring paintings.

I chose the flags at random. Mostly, I was looking to see if the pattern of the flags made a good pouring painting. Before making the attempt, I had to decide what type of technique I was going to employ.

The bulk of these pouring paintings used the traditional swipe technique. This technique adds a nice abstract feel to the overall painting. I simply comb the paint with a mold or a piece of paper.

This adds nice cell bubbles to the paints. It helps to add silicone resin to the mix. All but the main rainbow flag features that technique. The rainbow flag was done with a funnel.

This allowed for the paints to flow outward in a nice psychedelic pattern. Above, you can see the finished version of all my paintings. I also photographed the wet versions of the painting.

As the paints settled, some of the artworks ended up looking completely different from the wet versions. The BDSM flag is the one that looks the most different.

The white paint flowed a lot. It dragged with it the red colors floating on top of it. The rainbow flag also looks different because I accidently dropped it while moving it indoors.

It suddenly started raining and my pouring paintings were in danger. The porch does block most of the rain, but it was raining a lot.

So, I got worried. In my hurry to save the painting, it fell, and I scratched it while trying to save it.

I fixed it as best I could by pulling some of the paint inward to cover the holes I created. This is why it looks the way it does.

This is why I always photograph the wet versions. It is to account for eventualities.

All in all, it was a happy accident. Both versions now look somewhat different. The pouring paints were done on wood.

The smooth surface helps the paint flow pretty easily. I added a light gesso base to keep the paints from sinking into the wood.

You can still kinda see a bit of the grain. I hope this inspires you to make pouring paintings.

I also made videos of my artworks in Tiktok and Youtube.

You can see how I went about making these paintings.

In any case, I hope you like my new pouring paintings. I worked really hard on them.

My name is Teresita Blanco, the Artsy Sister. Bye, bye and God bless. Happy Pride Month.
