Today, I wanted to show you another four set of pouring paintings. I have gotten into the habit of making them on a weekly basis.
The problem is coming up with a theme for each new project. I have the technique. All I am missing is a theme. So, this is what I came up with.
The first one I was going for a tree type of feel. It ended up looking a little predominantly green, with some pink glows here and there.
The second painting was done with a swiping mold. I painted the first waves before moving it down, until I filled up the wooden panel.
In the end, I swiped it down to connect each piece. The white stuff is just the white gesso of the canvas. I didn’t feel the need to fill them up with white paint.
The third pouring painting features the Cuban flag. I am Cuban so I figured I would do one of the flag.
I painted the basic shape, before swiping down the red colors. It ended up looking as if the Cuban flag was bleeding out.
The final painting was made with leftover paints. I have gotten into the habit of collecting all the leftover paints in a bottle.
Once the bottle gets enough paint, I pour it down into a canvas. This one ended up looking like magma. It has nice pockets of glow here and there.
All the paintings where done on thin plywood panels. I wasn’t in the mood for buying new canvases, so, I just used whatever I had at home.
I have been hanging them all around my window. It makes for quite the interesting conversation piece.
I took two photographs of my paintings. The first set of paintings feature the dry finished work. The other photographs feature the wet pouring paintings.
I never know what the painting is going to look like when it dries. All the competing mediums dry differently.
The upside of using wooden panels is that the smooth surface makes the paint move quicker.
So, I do not need to use that much pouring paints to create a finished artwork. I think I ranted enough about my pouring paintings for one day.
I hope this blog inspires you to produce artworks.
The Tiktok and Youtube videos of these paintings are already up and about.
You can see them to see how I got around to making these paintings.
