This is my latest Hollow Knight parody. I was looking at random things for inspiration. It was then when I saw a manga panel from Baki.
It featured Oliva carrying his wife about. I decided to do a similar scene with the Pale King and the White Lady.
The Pale King is carrying his wife to the Royal Bedchambers, while his retainers bowl in awe. I only added four retainers in order not to steal focus.
The design of the White Lady is a little different. It is a combination of her look in the Queen’s Garden, and her early concept art.
For the background, I added a lot of Blue Butterflies. Without them, the drawing was going to be completely grayscale.
Plus, the place where the Hollow Knight was conceived had a section covered in Blue Butterflies. It seems that mating there provides added vitality to the King’s descendants.
Mostly, I thought it would look pretty. There isn’t a lot of fanarts of the Pale King and his wife. In the few that I have seen, the wife is lugging him about like a sack of potato.
Since he is King Ant, he should be the once carrying the Queen Ant as a show of virility. These are all the stupid thoughts that went into the creation of this drawing.
In the rough sketch, you can see the initial idea. I added more elements to improve the drawing.
I kept the background simple, but also detained enough to keep the drawing from looking empty.
The drawing itself was made with pencil, pen and photoshop.
I am more comfortable drawing with coloring pencil, but I am trying to refine my skills.
It is cheaper to draw in photoshop. I think I ranted enough about my drawing for one day.
This is Teresita Blanco, the Artsy Sister. Bye, bye and God bless.
