I was like super bored around the edges. I have been practicing with clay sculpting a bit. It was then when I decided to try to make some Hollow Knight characters.
I was going to make a couple of more stuff, but my free time ended. As such, I ended up making just Hornet and Master Grimm. I used plasticine to make the little figurines.
I was like looking for Hollow Knight related figurines. Since I could not find any, I was like I will make my own, for my amusement. I had a silly doll video idea with the Hollow Knight.
I recently defeated Master Grimm and I wanted to make a doll video to commemorate the incident. Anyhow, the overall reason was that I was bored of everything.
I thought I would recapture a bit of my childhood by playing with Plasticine. I am quite familiar with it, and I was able to make two decent figurines. The first one I made was Master Grimm.
I has just trying out random nonsense. Since I did not have black Plasticine, I used dark blue for the body. Using the camera I could easily isolate the red. This would give Master Grimm an appropriate color.
Hornet was also made with red clay. This clay does not harden. For that reason, it could work for Claymation. I am still thinking up my little Doll theater short skit around the edges.
Anyhow, I will now focus on the specific figurines. Master Grimm was complicated enough to make. I first started making a round head. I then got some red clay and tried to make the little silly hat.
Afterwards, I made the silly skinny body. The final thing I worked on was the nice cloak. I sliced petal shaped pieces and then I coiled them around the body. I kept looking at his little photo to maintain the proper shape.
Sculpting is just like drawing, but in 3D. You look at the reference and then you try your best to match it. When this was done, I did the top part of the cloak and then he was complete.
I took two pictures of Master Grimm. One with color, and the other with red. I thought he came out rather nicely. With this him completed, I went to make Hornet.
I ended up making her taller than Master Grimm, but I am not going to make him again. I gave her the tiny sword as well. The figurines do not have arms, I just thought it would make them easier to make.
I am still learning as far as sculping is concerned. All in all, it is something to pass the time. I have lost the joy of doing many things including writing and drawing.
Clay is something relatively new I am trying out. So, I enjoy making the figurines. Aside from these two Hollow Knight figurines, I made a couple of music instruments with air dry clay.
I will show you the finished figurines eventually. On the meantime, enjoy these two little Hollow Knight bugs.
