I was brainstorming a new Hollow Knight parody. Normally, I like to mix them with artworks.
While browsing at art, I came up with this idea, instead. It was such an obvious parallel that it is brilliant. I referenced the Beatles with Hollow Knight characters.
I chose the Nailmasters and the Nailsage as stand ins for the Beatles. They are in the City of Tears crossing the road.
I added notations to the lineart to remember which lines are white and which ones are black. One of the nailmasters is without his shoes.
He is almost smoking. I noticed that little detail in the Abbey Road Album. So, I added that detail to the final drawing.
In this way, all the Nailmasters look different. It was convenient for the drawing that Sly is pretty small. He was able to fit within the entire frame.
Had I used another large character, I would have been forced to shrink the other three nailmasters. Now, they all fit within the frame.
The real unanswered question of this drawing is Why did the Nailmasters cross the road? This was one of the possible titles I wanted for the drawing.
It is a little lame. If anyone has a good suggestion title for this drawing, I would be happy to read it.
For now, its official title is going to be The Nailmasters King Road Album. The Nailmasters reunited to do music together.
The others took Sheo’s advice, and they learned a new craft. In times of peace, their fighting skills were not needed. So, the Nailmasters were forced to reinvent themselves to survive.
Within world of the Hollow Knight, there is music. You can hear it in different rest stops, and in the metro. With the plague ending, life has taken root again in the city of tears.
So, it makes sense that Sly would try to make music for the new citizens of the City of Tears. Above, you can see the different stages of the drawing, as well as the final linearts.
You can also see the original inspiration for this drawing. I hope it makes you smile. This is Teresita Blanco, the Artsy Sister. Bye, bye and God bless.
