Valentine’s Day Hollow Knight x Marilyn Monroe Parody: Geos are a Bug’s Best Friends

Tomorrow is Valentine’s Day. I spent the entire morning brainstorming a good Valentine’s Day blog post. In the end, I decided to make it a Hollow Knight parody.
Unlike my usual parodies, this one is based on a Marilyn Monroe movie called Gentlemen Prefer them Blonde. Above, you can see the still shot I used in order to make my drawing.
As a stand in for Marilyn Monroe, I used the Eternal Emilitia. Both maidens were the courtesan of rulers. It is implied that Emilitia was a courtesan of the Pale King, but she was cast out.
While Marilyn Monroe was the lover of JFK. Emilitia is one of the NPCs that you can give a Delicate Flower to. The delicate flower was grown by the Grey Mourner, in order to place in the graveyard of her dead lover.
It is a symbol of the fragility of love, and how easily it can be lost if not careful. In this parody, I had both the Knight and Zote offering delicate flowers to Emilitia. This is something you can do in the actual game.
Emilitia refuses to accept the flower. Zote’s flower is broke because he is terrible at platforming, while the knight’s flower is still pristine. The other two bugs courting Emilitia are the Dung Defender Ogrim and the Nailmaster Sheo.
Sheo is offering Emilitia a painting that he made of her, while the Ogrim is giving her a ball of Dung. I added Ogrim for hilarity’s sake. Game wise, it makes sense that Ogrim would have run into Emilitia.
Both lived in the castle, until, Emilitia was cast out, while Ogrim left after the Pale King died. Ogrim lives in the sewer, whose back entrance leads to Emilitia’s home.
All in all, I was trying to fill up the space with the two largest bugs I could think of. It is too much of a pain to draw too many characters, that each require their own individual layers.
The drawing was made with pencil and markers. Once, the lineart was cleaned up I finished it with photoshop. I hope you like my latest Hollow Knight parody. This is Teresita Blanco the Artsy Sister. Bye, bye and God bless.
