Little Samson Nintendo Game Review
Among the last Nintendo games, I played was Little Samson. I enjoyed this game a lot.
I remember that among the hardest worlds to conquer was the one of the Little Samson. There was just one great leap forward that I always failed to jump over. Anyhow, the concept of the game is pretty interesting.
Four warriors brought together to fight an evil mage. Each is a representative of their respective nature world. The Dragon is of the wind. The boy from fire. The golem from earth.
Lastly, the small rat from grass. I remember that one of my friends had told me that the Golem could shoot laser beams from his eyes. I tried pressing all the imaginable combination of keys. However, the Golem did not shoot lazers from his eyes.
Anyhow, each character is useful in its own field. The forms I used most often where the rat and the dragon. You get around pretty well with both. This game is extremely hard. It is important to keep an eye on HP Ups and Lifes.
Totally Rad Nintendo Game Review
The last Nintendo game I ever played was Totally Rad. I spent years trying to remember the name of this game. I did not speak English at the time I played the game.
Thus, I really have no idea what this game is about. In any case, with Nintendo video games of this kind, language is not an issue. Most Nintendo games are pretty straight forward.
All I could device of the plot was that the main characters had superpowers. He had to use them to save his girlfriend or sister. Among the powers he had were nature elements. They got stronger as you went further in the game.
The main kid could also turn into strange beings. My favorite form was the angel and the frog. You could get around pretty far with those two forms. I personally used most of the time the angel form.
The power of flight and long range is perfect for defeating those powerful bosses. I never got around to winning the game. I had to return this game to my friend before I got around to winning it. I only got as far as the jumbo knight. I could never figure out how to slay the beast.
Friday the 13th Nintendo Game Review
It is an ancient Nintendo tradition to turn movies into games. Friday the 13th is of this tradition. I never won the game. Mostly due to language barrier. I only played Nintendo on a regular basis back when I was a small chibi in Cuba.
I upgraded to Sega when I came to the US. I also never won the game cause Jason kept drowning me whenever I went to the lake. This game is more in tune with the movie. It is more quest like.
However, you do have some cheap weapons to fell the beast. The truth of the matter is that I was not aware that this was based on a movie. I only became familiar with Jason when I saw the promos of Freddy vs Jason.
Those crossover movies are so stupid!! Anyhow, this game was humoring enough to kill a few hours. Despite my failures to win this game, Friday the 13th the Nintendo version never failed to amuse me.
Ski or Die Nintendo Game Review
This was among the first Nintendo sports games that I played. I liked this one a lot. It was quite humoring to get high scores. The pity was that the records where never saved. However, for personal pride they served rather nicely. They had a lot of odd games. There was one that was a two-player game.
It was the going down the mountain on a round floater thingy. We only had one working controller. Thus, the computer player was always the same old Lester. My favorite event was the one of going down the mountain.
While going down on skis you had to do a lot of fancy combos and jumps. I always did the best in this event. My brother was an expert in the fancy high jump. You know, you go up a ramp and then you do fancy twist and turns. Sometimes for the fun of it we used to experiment with the falls.
We would keep the character with his legs spread just to see him get hurt. I know it's kinda evil. However, there was nothing much to do during those days. Thus, we tried either to get the perfect jumps or the perfect falls. Either way, this game was a lot of fun.
Slalom Nintendo Game Review
Slalom is of the same nature of Ski or Die. However, this was simply going down the mountain. It was more of a race. As time passed, the courses got more problematic.
It was really hard. I never got past course 3. Mostly because I lent it to a weirdo kid and he never gave it back to me. We went to go get it once.
However, his father chased us out with a machete. My, those were fond childhood memories. Frankly, I remember this game due to that incident.
Paper Boy Nintendo Game Review
This is more of an obstacle course game. The object of the game is to do all the rounds perfectly. Whenever you manage to deliver the papers to all your subscribers you get new ones.
The game ends when the entire block becomes your subscribers. There are a few obstacles like cars, dogs, the Grim Reaper (bwahahhaha!!) and a crazy old hag with a butcher knife. It was a really funny looking game.
It's a wonder who devised this concept. Other than delivering the paper you got points for breaking the windows of all who had not subscribed to your paper. Plus, you got turn a gravestone or two. It was a fun lil Nintendo game.
Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse Nintendo Game Review
This was the last Nintendo game I ever played. It was a strange little game. Basically, you are a vampire hunter with a whip. I remember a funny robot chicken satire of this game.
In any case, things got really crazy at night. Everyone turned to monsters when night fell. At certain times, a weird maiden would show up in the graveyards.
It was pretty strange. I remember one of the boss battles involved defeating a strange looking giant mask. It was pretty weird, and it took an eternity or two to slay. In this game, you had to keep track of your cash.
Everything from the whip extension to the swords was worth an arm and a leg. The game itself was pretty fun. I never won the game. My friend moved and had to take this game with him.
Demon Sword Nintendo Game Review
This one is more of a quest to save a princess or something. Basically, you are using a demon sword to defeat demons. The main character is kinda like a ninja or something. Either way he jumps really high. There is a time limit or something. I forget? Was it timed?
I do remember that if I took forever a demon hellion would swoop down to kill you. It was best not to dilly dally. I did finish this game. I learned the whole purpose of the game when we rescued the chick. It was a pretty hard final boss.
Speaking of the demon sword, as time pass the sword grows. You need to do some side missions left and right to make the weapon stronger. I think that is everything worth mentioning about this Nintendo game.
Super Mario Bros. III Nintendo Game Review
I know that I should start with Super Mario I. However, Super Mario Bros. III was the first Super Mario Nintendo game I ever played. As a matter of fact, this was the first Nintendo game I ever played. When I was three, father argued with grandma between the purchase of a bike or a Nintendo.
Gradma worried that I might get hurt while ridding the bike. Thus, we ended up with the Super Mario Bros. III. The irony is that Father ended up liking this game a bit too much. Most of the time he was the one playing and I the one watching. In those early days, he was the only one who could slay King Koopa.
Whenever the final battle took place, bro and I used to go outside the house. We would watch the battle from the safety of the barred windows. It was a silly little game of ours. However, it helped to pass the time. Truly, I have very fond memories attached to this game.
I was not very good at playing this game in those early days. However, early on I mastered king Koopa's last castle. I could get to him in one piece regardless of whatever path I took.
I remember that father was the first to discover the flutes. I am not certain how he figured it out. However, one day he made Mario hunch on top of the White block in the 3rd stage.
This allowed him to pass through it all. He then went behind the ending black screen. This brought Mario to a hidden mushroom place where we got the flute from a box. Most of the times we just skipped right along to the last world. Thus, for most of the time I was familiar with the first world only.
From the first world, I liked a lot the fourth stage. It was a tough stage to bite down on. It was one of those that you have to keep jumping about or else Mario falls to his death.
After father died, I played this game with my brother. I remember that I used to wake up as early as 5 AM to play the game. Sometimes, when I could not sleep, I would just go to the living room and play Super Mario Bros. III. We only had one controller thus, it was Mario all the way.
My favorite world from this game is the 4th. It is the one with the giant versions of all the monsters. I am not certain why I liked the place. Perhaps, it had something to do with the music.
The individual stages were really hard. Plus, the little boomerang throwing guys had gone jumbo. Most of the time, I got passed them with the music box or the cloud.
That cloud got me out of a lot of scrapes. If worse came to worse, I would use the wing P. I usually reserved that power for eventualities. In Super Mario Bros. III, the number one killer of Mario are the pits.
I remember that in this game there were a few weird things. In one of the bottom stages of the 5th world, there was a little green boot. This boot helped you get past the black bitter monsters.
I also remember that one of the stages, above the clouds, there were some weird flying monsters. In the 4th world, one of the last stages had a weird black door. When you went in it, it made the monsters larger and then smaller after entering again.
I also remember that odd things tended to show up at random times. When you did really well in a world a wild card game would appear. You just match the cards to get powers. Other times a shipped full of coins would appear.
Speaking of ships, those ships stages were really dangerous. You had to jump a lot. Most of these worlds are easily tamed with Wing P. Another ship that was problematic was the water ones from world 8th. Most of the time, I would just swim underwater to avoid the gun fires.
You have to try to stay afloat or else be sunk bellow. However, the creme de la creme was the last flying ship in world 8th. That one has the little flames, and the surfaces eludes you too quickly.
It is easy with the Wing P. However, you will not survive it without a raccoon form. I like the boss soundtrack of those ships. They were always really creepy. Overall, the soundtrack in the game was lovely. I like mostly the world songs of 4th and 6th.
Speaking of world 6th, that was my second favorite world. It was also hard as sin. However, what was of most importance was the hidden power in the place.
Here is one of the few worlds where you can find the hammer throwing form of Mario. Super Mario Bros. III has most of the weird powers of Mario. In no other have I seen the Toad form, the Buddha raccoon or the Hammer Thrower.
Those forms are really something else. As a matter of fact, King Kopa can be easily slain by the Hammer Thrower. Just 6 or 7 hits from those Hammer and he is a dead dragon.
I don't like how they changed the names of King Koopa or Princess Toadstool. Those are classical names. Plus, it's annoying the Toadstood ripoff for Luigi. The whole joke of the game was the love rivalry between the brothers. Only one brother can save the princess.
Before I finish, I would like to mention the bosses from World 3 and 7. Both had a great significance for me in my early life. I frankly liked the boss of world 3 because she was pink. As all you may not know, I like pink. Pink is not even a question.
To make the fight harder I would fight her in the toad form. Obviously, Mario could not get very far in his toad form. Still, it gave me a laugh or two. As for the one in world 7th, I used to have the same terrible hairdo. I recently got it straightened. I am happy that I could share these few fond memories attached to this game.
Super Mario Bros. Nintendo Game
To be honest, the Super Mario Bros. Nintendo game was the last one I played of the series. This game always felt a bit long around the edges. It took forever to get nowhere.
The transition between worlds was as bit iffy. In comparison to the 3rd part, you did not have too much control of over going from World to World. The castles were at least harder.
If I remember correctly, I think this game did not have the flying racoons form. It did however have the flower power and star power. I liked that flower power a lot. It at least was better than nothing.
Most of the worlds, in this super Mario game, had a lot of hidden passages. It was easy to get lost there. Like most of the Super Mario games, this one was timed.
One showed off ones' great game play abilities via the number system. The faster you cleared the worlds the more points you got. It was more of an ego boost, than anything else.
Super Mario Bros. 2 Nintendo Game
I was surprised at how different this Nintendo game was from Super Mario Bros.1 and 3. Here you got to choose between Mario, Luigi, Toadstool and the Mushroom Kid.
I forget his name. In any case, each character was good for a specificity level. Luigi could jump really high.
The Princess was good at hovering in the sky. As for Mario and the Mushroom kid, they were not good at anything.
I could never find a good use for either. Most of the time I played as either the Princess or Luigi. I do remember the boss battles where pretty interesting.
They threw eggs at you. Other times, they breathed fire like regular dragons. The final boss was the weird falcon thing that swallowed you up at the end of each battle.
I did like a lot the casino style of giving you lives. The cherries always got you at least one life up. Mostly, I like this game a lot because it was so colorful and different.
The music was also pleasant. I liked a lot the little magic carpet rides we took from time to time. I remembered there was a weird mask monster that got angry whenever you took his key.
He would chase after you until you got rid of it. I like also the whole throwing vegetable thing. It was pretty cute. A nice chance of pace from just squashing your opponents. I think that is all worth mentioning about this cute Nintendo game. I liked playing it.
