Resident Evil 6 Capcom Horror Game Review
I recently purchased the Resident Evil 6 game. It came with a language expansion pact. It allowed for me to put the audio of the game in Spanish. I wanted for my Mama to understand events of the game. Hehehe...
Let's see, before purchasing the game, I played the demo in Xbox live. It was pretty long for a demo. Basically, you had to escape a Zombie infested University Campus.
The thing I liked best was the realism. Aside from the blood and gore, I thought it was pretty cool how the target reacted to the ricochet of the guns. That was a pretty cool trick.
There was also the issue with the zombie ambush. They only activated whenever you got close to them. I avoided them by running. In the demo, like in the game, they give you the running out of bullets experience.
You have to be very conservative with your shots. The game does allow you to have infinite ammo. However, that would dilute the true zombie game experience.
I think that is enough talk about the Demo. The game itself allows you to play, at first 4 campaigns. One can play with up to 4 characters, in certain events. The rest of the time it's a 2-player game.
The computer is pretty good at surviving. If you do not have a second control, you can wait and eternity or two to get the help from an online player. Usually, online players have been in the game longer. Others are just as novice as you are.
Thinking about it, it's kinda problematic to start playing Resident Evil 6 with the storyline so far advance. The game itself is modeled after a horror movie. It has a lot of darkness here and there. Most of the time, Resident Evil has you jumping at shadows. I am referring to the first mission, after the intro.
The intro of the game focuses on Leon and Helena. Leon is a character who survived Resident Evil 2. He is currently trying to help out Helena. She has been seriously wounded. The scene is like one of those, "go on and save yourself" kinda touchy moment.
Leon refuses to abandon his friend. Via his movements, we get through the game tutorial. At first, they teach you to move things. Later, they show you how to make potions. Using the herbs, Helena gets better.
My favorite tutorial is the running tutorial. You are outside in the streets and then a zombie infested plane falls. You then have to run like hell to avoid getting killed. The next tutorial is done inside a helicopter that picked you up.
There the pilot gets hurt and you have to use the trigger commands to steady the helicopter. Eventually, you make it to this place that has the Umbrella Corporation logo. They end the tutorial before the final showdown.
After this intro, they let you play regularly the Resident Evil game. At first there are 4 campaigns. There you play the game from the perspective of 4 different groups of chibis. I thought it was pretty cool the shadow trick. In this game, you are going to be jumping at shadows often. Capcom did a really good job at offering their players the horror zombie movie experience.
Anyhow, my bro was first to play. He likes chicks so he chooses to play as Helena, in the Leon campaign. Early on, when they fought President Zombie, we find out that Helena is responsible for this zombie mess.
Then again, she is the one who claims responsibility. When reporting to the superiors, Leon admitted that he had shot the president. He told them that the President had been infected by the T- Virus.
The issue is that the President wanted to expose to the world the truth about the Racoon City incident. It seems Umbrella or Neon Umbrella was not too happy about having their operation exposed.
That point aside, Leon and Helena have to leave the hall Presidential house. Leon decides to follow Helena to the church. There she will explain "everything". When you get outside the office all is quiet. There is not a zombie in sight.
In this first level, the tension is paper thin. To make matters worse, there is the eerie music and the lightning. At a certain point, rats start showing up all over the place. This leads up to our first zombie. A father is couching up blood while looking for his daughter. He spoke of how a mist had gotten inside. Needless to say, that mist is the T-Virus. He eventually does find his daughter. She was badly injured by our first zombie.
We do manage to save the girl. However, we eventually get stuck inside an elevator with the girl and her father. Like such classical, scary movie elevator scenes, the lights went off. When they turned back on, the girl was already a zombie. She was devouring her father.
It was a gruesome sight...considering that we were stuck in a crammed room with a zombie chick. The zombie girl was quickly taken care off. The elevator kept going on its merry course. Frankly, I was expecting for an army of zombies to jump me the minute the elevator door opened.
Nothing of the sort occurred, however, there was a decent number of zombies here and there roaming about the parking lot. From then on, the scene connected to the demo about the campus zombie students.
The worst part there was when the alarm went off in a hallway. It had windows on both sides. The way to get across had been locked due to a bad code. We had to survive the zombie onslaught while our operator hacked the door to help Helena and Leon escape.
From then on, its the road to the church. At a certain point, we take the underground route. This time it was I who played the Resident Evil's level. The streets were crowded with zombies. Underground the metro ran rampant.
If you were not careful you were run over. What I really hated about the underground level was the visibility. The flashlight was sucky. It barely illuminated anything. To avoid ambushes, I kept toward one wall. That way the zombies could only ambush me from 3 different vantage point.
Underground, they introduced the classical zombie dogs. They were the first non-human zombies from the first Resident Evil game. Outside the Metro, we returned to zombie city. The place was a complete chaos. Zombies running rampant left and right. The car accidents were also problematic.
There were also a few zombies trying to get inside Residential homes. In that city, we encountered some of the most problematic zombies. The firsts were the cop zombies. They shot all over the place in their zombie fashion.
If you were not careful they blew your brains out. When we reached the gas station, we met some humans who were fighting off the zombies. At that point, one zombie that was eating a lot evolved. His throat became enlarged. He started attacking us with a sonic boom.
He was eventually dispatched thanks to the gas tanks explosions. Well, with this team of weirdos, we got inside a gun shop. There we had plenty of ammo to fight off the zombies (thank God for the NRA). That world was really hard. We had to clear the ground level of zombies before the owner would let us in to the second floor.
At a certain point, we fought some skinless zombies, one of those yeller zombies and a giant fat guy zombie. The fat guy zombie was really hard to kill. Like I always say, I am very stingy with my items. Whether they be healing items or bullets. I always save them for a rainy day. Well... in this case, the fat guy zombie counted as a rainy day.
It took like 5 shotgun blast to the face to kill the beast. When we did escape the place. We could not move the bus because there was another fat guy blocking the road. Once again, the shotgun proved to be quite handy. The chapter ended when the bus headed toward the church.
This concludes the first chapter of this Resident Evil 6 campaign. For my first time, I did not do half bad. I was ranked B. I would have gotten rank A had I hurried up. Then again, from my experience, those who rush in blindly are the first to die in games like this. I hope that I said enough about this Resident Evil game to pick your interest.
To be honest, this is the first Resident Evil game I ever played. Sure, it would make sense to start with the first. However, with games such as this, it is not good to go backward. Playing older versions of games is always disappointing (graphic wise).
For this reason, I recommend for first time Resident Evil players, to get the 6th part. By now, the Resident Evil games have worked out all the kicks. Even if you do not get the whys or the hows, its still a pretty good gaming experience.
Assassin's Creed III "Historical" Game Review
For a long time, I have been reluctant to get into Assassin's Creed. I did know that it was pretty popular. However, I thought it was simply a silly game about killing people during historical time. When I got the game, I thought it would begin in the US or something. However, I was shocked by the whole Animus system or whatever.
The whole gloom and doom of the game gave you a sense of purpose. You were killing, but it was for the good of the world. It sorta justified the Assassin's way of life. Then again, the game is about what the assassin's believe in.
From what I heard, the Assassin of the third part is the one least like on the internet, for some reason. It must be because Connor is a half breed. Plus, the whole patricide thing does not suit well. Then again, Haythem did abandon him and his native wife.
When I first started playing in the historical world, I thought that Haythem was an Assassin. Only when he indoctrinated his new member, I was able to see that he was an evil Templar. I gathered as much that the Templars want to rule the world. Plus, they are not doing much to save it. Then again, the way that the Juno planned to save Earth did not make any sense. I mean, how do you wish away a calamity?
Anyhow, I wish to focus on the beginning. Like you all know, we start out with Haythem. The first kill mission was at a British Opera. It was really hard for me, because I had never played the game. The climbing was pretty peachy. However, the whole picking locks things took quite a bit of time. The getting away part was also pretty stressful.
From London, Haythem went to the US colony in Boston. The ship trek was really annoying, especially with the coup. Somehow, I managed not to get the captain killed. As soon as I landed, I started interacting with the city.
After visiting the Inn, I went to the shops. I robbed enough money to buy Haythem a new sword. I went way out of my way to give him the best weapon out there. It was a real bummer how I made powerful the final boss.
Fighting wise, I got used to killing pretty early. With Haythem, I killed 111 before switching to Connor. I used to try to fight a large number of British soldiers. You know, for practice purposes. The underground tunnel mission was pretty cool. I managed to discover all the exit. The thing I found most annoying where the Almanac pages. It was pretty hard to get them.
Silly wise, my poor Haythem got a gaming problem as soon as he arrived. I got into playing the mini games and lost all the money that I had. Since then, I have avoided those silly board games. Sure, you could kill a lot of time. However, I rarely won in those games.
Haythem's missions were pretty cool. I grew to like him a lot. The whole cutesy romance with the Native maiden was really cute. It was a bummer how she jumped around in the trees. Connor's childhood was real depressing. Frankly, I thought it was really cool when he turned into an eagle. The pity was that the mission required you not to bump into anything. I did pretty well for most of the flight. Around the end, I literary ate the bark off all the trees in the forest.
It was interesting how little by little they gave you a tutorial of the game. The game really got started when I got the fancy Assassin's suit. Connor's Yoda was pretty depressing. It was really sad how he changed Connor's name. He said it was better to be taken as a Spaniard, than as a Native. Overall, the game was pretty realistic with the racism.
Lets see, another thing that I liked were the ship battles. In the first one, I died twice. I could hardly handle the British Warship. As the saying goes, the third time was the charm. I also started doing the treasure hunting missions. You know, the silly peg leg missions. Things got easier after I bought all the upgrades for the ship.
Story line wise, I got as far as the Boston Tea Party. Most of the time, I spent it doing the side quests. Recently, my brother finished doing the hunting missions for me. I am not a very good hunter... nor a very effective Assassin. I am quick and efficient. In the mission about the drafted boys, I finished it very quickly. On the internet, I have seen videos of people that spend an eternity to get to the guy.
I simple rushed to him and pushed him off the first floor. It triggered the drowning glitch, which caused him to die. The mission was over in a flash. I am of the belief that the faster you kill the main target, the less casualties you can avoid.
Another hard mission was when I killed the guy that was trying to sell the lands of my people. He tried to escape, but I ignored the others. I chased after him and got him with the Stinger. I chocked him just before a British guy sneaked up from behind. All in all, it was amusing.
Dark Souls RPG Game Review
When I bought the Dark Souls game, we had a love/hate relationship. Up until that day, I had never played any Dark Souls game. As a matter of fact, Dark Souls is the second part of Dark Sign. In any case, I did not know what to expect when I started playing Dark Souls.
Like most RPG games, I was able to design my main character. For my first personage, I choose the thief class. That choice I grew to regret as I ventured more into the Dark Souls world. Needless to say, the Thief class was considered a tough class for beginners.
After choosing my girly thief, the storyline began. The overview was based on the first part of the game. It introduced five main bosses or was it four. I think there was lord Gwyn, the Witch, the Death Guy and a Scaleless dragon. From there, the game switches to the Undead Asylum. There is where they keep all the undead folks. They cannot function in normal society because they might go Hollow (or insane) at any second.
From what I heard of the game creator; his game theme is overcoming adversity. In this game, the main character is undead. He must learn to live with his malady, until he finds a cure.
The cure comes in two forms. You either die when, you kindle the last fire or you become the lord of the brontosaurus. In either case, it is not a pretty ending per say.
The storyline of the game is not very clear. You sorta have to piece it together by reading the info on the weapons. All the gamers on the internet have their own unique interpretation of the storyline. I suppose I should tell you what was my take on the storyline. Once upon a time, there were some cool dragons. When they breathed fire into the ground humanity came into existence.
Some humans were stronger than others. The lords were able to absorb more flame from the dragons upon their conception. Since they were children of dragons, they shared the same arrogance.
They did not like the idea of dragons lording over them. As such, the four lords banded together to defeat the dragons. The secret of their success came about thanks to the Scaleless Dragon.
Since he was scaleless, he was seen as a defective dragon. Naturally, this alienation made him sympathetic toward the humans. He taught the lords the secret to defeating the dragons. He trained each one according to his and her skill. Lord Gwyn developed miracles and lightning.
The Witch and her daughters mastered fire. The Lord of Death mastered pestilence. As for Seath, the scaleless dragon, he was a curse master. His existence was a curse upon the dragons. When they fell, only he remained.
After the Lords won, they became the Gods of the new world. The decedents of the furtive Pigmea, 4th race to be born from the dragon's fire, became the Lord's followers. There was a prolonged period of peace, while the Lords reigned. However, one day the flames began to fade. Unlike the dragons, the Lords could not create fire, at most they could only kindle it.
The witch and her daughters tried to recreate the original fire, using magic. However, their tampering created magma. As a byproduct of their experimentation, many of the witches daughter's got turned to demons.
The main witch herself became a burning bush. Her other daughters turned to broodmothers. These gave birth to the Capra demons and other varieties of demons.
The only daughter that did not turned into a beast was Quelana. Instead of turning to a monster, she developed pyromancing. She used her inner flame as a catalyst to create a flame hand. She divided her flame with her first student, Salamander (or something). The only problem with pyromancing is that over time, the pyromancer's flame gets progressively weaker.
On the Death's side, he started lording over the dead. Due to the dark sign, many of the dead reanimated. Others simply were born dead. Despite these issues, his presence provided for his followers the illusion of a peaceful rest. In the end, even the lord of Death is not truly dead, for he is animated.
As for Seath, having betrayed his dragons pals, he went to rule over the humans. He imparted upon his followers the gift of crystal weapons. His home also served as a prison for whoever went Hollow.
When he was not crystallizing followers, he was developing beautiful butterflies chicks. Those beautiful maidens also served as his brides. From them, we got the clamp, the reptiles, the weird blue octopuses and the Priscilla the Crossbreed.
The last guy worth mentioning is Lord Gwyn. Unlike the other lords, Gwyn made Pygmies into knights. When the battle was over, he shared part of his flame among his most trusted generals. When things finally settled down, Lord Gwyn became a family man. He was able to produce a decent amount of kids.
What these four weirdos have in common is that they are all in on the joke. They may not appear to be working together, however, each is trying to make the player sacrifice themselves to the flame. When the flame is rekindled, the cycle will start all over again, with the Lords coming to life. Should you keep the Lord's Vessel, the world goes dark. As such, you have to choose whether to perpetrate the Lord's rule, or become the Lord of the Brontosaurus.
A lot of other things happen in the middle, but that is the gist of the storyline. My favorite world was the Painted World of Arriety (od Priscilla). Priscilla was part of a conspiracy to overthrow the Lords. Like the undead, she did not fit into the Lord's new world. Since she was a crossbreed between a witch and the dragon, she was treated worse than undead.
Since her conspiracy failed, she was thrown into the undead Asylum. In her loneliness, she was drawn inside a painted world. The weird doll her hollow carried was the key to her world. Even though her conspiracy failed, her brontosaurus followers kept the ball rolling. Like her, they did not fit into the perfect world created by the Lords. They wanted their own ruler.
I think that is enough plot. Aside from the odd storyline, I found the Dark Soul weapons pretty interesting. Each kind had its own combo and style. Early on, I fell for the Drake Sword trap.
The Drake Sword is a good start up weapon. The problem is that it does not scale with your level. Plus, improving it requires dragon scales. Ironically, I managed to get a lot of dragon scales early on. I had the habit of biting on more than I could chew.
Eventually, I settled down on Iato for a weapon. It was really hard to get that samurai blade. You had to give a lot of odd turns to get it in Anor Londo. I liked that sword because of the bleeding damage. For a shield, I kept the knight's shield. It had the highest defense points. I ended up ruining it pretty early by giving it some fire.
Armor wise, I got the heaviest, strongest armor I could find. I ended up using the heavy knights armor. For light armor, I got the black pyromancer armor. I liked it because of the curse defense. Also, I found it cute whenever I saw the pretty feet of my fragile lil thief girl. Another armor that I liked was the red mage armor of the sealer. It was a pretty strong armor that you could get if you ran pretty fast.
I think that is enough on the weapons. The most important part of the game are the boss battle. The first boss battle in the Asylum was pretty hard, specially with the crappy knife. The monster killed me like three times. Then again, it was my first boss battle. The first boss that truly frustrated me was the Capra demon. He would jump me the second he saw me. I would try to run away, but his zombie dogs would catch me. That boss made me stop playing the game for quite a while.
However, the hardest bosses in the entire game were Hammer and Nails. The first time I fought him, I had no humanities. Heck, I had a hard time not dying the first time around. In any case, the odd pair kept killing me. Because I had saved the game into the XBOX, Nails used to overclock. Needless to say, he was a tad faster than what he was supposed to be. It took me like a month to defeat Hammer and Nails.
After that part of the game, the bosses did not felt too hard. My brother was the one who slew the final boss... without me, twice. He told me that the second time he slew him, he trigger Gwyn's kill with one strike attack. The first time he won, he kindled the fire. The second time he became the rulers of the brontosaurs.
Frankly, my best file was the mage file. I became a mage in my second file. I gave most of the first levels to magic. Thanks to the catylist her magic was pretty strong. This mage file also taught me how to dodge. Since I invested all my pecks for magic, my character had no defense. Still, defense was irrelevant when I was able to slay the bosses after one or two magical shots.
In my mage file, I practically slew everyone. I wanted to see what they were carrying. Plus, via the magic I was finally able to survive most battles. I defeated pretty early a lot of bosses. I only had problems with the drakes, the hydras and Ceaseless Discharge. My only regret was that I slew the forgiver of sins. Because he croaked I was not able to learn the lightning shooting miracle. Still, I was able to manage with the magic that I learned.
The hardest battles were mostly against the little humans. Since they were a small target, I had a hard time shooting them down. In my mage file, I was able defeat pretty easily Hammer and Nails. I had a lot of humanities, thus I was able to summon Solaires.
The last file I made was one with a pyromancer. I choose a pyromancer because he started in level 1. I liked that the form started in level 1 because it gave me more control of the levels. That file I left it on hold because I got a new game. Plus, there was nothing else to do in the game. I had literary found everything in my first file.
The last thing I want to mention is a very annoying cliche. You remember the pendulum knife joke. You see them in a lot of Indiana Jones movies. In any case, what frustrated me for a while was that I kept losing to a cliche. Boy, I spent a whole month trying to get across. It almost made me stop playing the game all together. Long story short, my brother got across the traps and I was able to continue playing the game.
On a final note, Dark Souls is one of those games that is hard for the sake of being hard. The storyline is not that far out there. It is also designed like a memory game. You can win the game pretty easily if you remember the location of all monsters, traps and items.
For those with poor memory, I wish you luck. Because this game was so hard, I finally learned to dodge. That ability helped me in my new game. If you want to become a better gamer, then get Dark Souls. The game will teach you the true meaning of dodging. For teaching me the true meaning of Christmas, Dark Souls deserves 5 stars rating.
Dark Souls 2
Today, I wanted to review the totally amassing Dark Souls 2. I have been too busy playing the game in order to review it. Basically, this game picks up were the other one left off… more or less. In my first file, I was a rogue. I ended up starting a new file because my girl became a dude.
I found out later, if you stayed hollowed for too long, the character forgets what it looks like. Call it an annoying handicap. In this game, we find out the source of the undead curse. As usual, Dark Souls is a bit ambiguous of the storyline. So, I will work in themes.
First, I will discuss my current character. As usual, my second file I call my character Pride. She was a mage girl. I figured I would go for magic all the way since; I won the last Dark Souls game easily as a mage. As of now, I am a quasi-mage/ monk/magical warrior. I usually hang around a lot in the Sinner’s Rise. The place was my favorite training spot up until recently. By ascending the bondfire, I got to level 200.
Anyhow… the tutorial for this game was less brutal than the tutorial in Dark Souls 1. In that game, they had you kill an ugly, fat boss with a broken sword. They did not let you level up until you killed that horrible monster.
This time the tutorial seemed more like a tutorial, with some half backed monster for you to beat up to raise your self-esteem. You can still die in the tutorial, if you are careless. Since I got the Black Armor game thingy, I got some extra gear of sorts.
Frankly, I did not like too much the intro movie. In the first part, they showed you an epic final battle between Lord Gwyn and his allies vs. the Evil Dragons. This one gave you a little too much info about your past. You had a wife or mother and then you went Hollow. You forget about your past and you don’t even care.
From what I gathered from the storyline, the new King Vendrick was a Lord Gwyn’s replacement. One day his kingdom was attacked by giants that came out of nowhere. Around that time, King Vendrick got a new hot wife. He was attracted by her dark beauty. Little did he know his Queen wanted to become a king. In order to gain power, she gave the king the undead curse. In order to fight the curse, King Vendrick used the powers of the Giant’s souls.
In the end, the King concluded he was cursed because the fire was dying. Indeed, the curse became stronger as the Flame died. Since the King could not recreate the fire, he decided to bring the dragons back to life. Though that experiment failed, he was still able to make a dragon like creature. The mock dragon did not work. It looked like a dragon. It breathed fire like a dragon, but it was an utter failure. In all respect, the so called dragon was a glorified Drake and nothing more.
In response to this failure, the King went to plan B. He found an ancient dragon egg and was in the process of hatching it when I came along and stole it. Then again, by that time the King had lost all his humanity. The Queen’s curse had succeeded. Since the king was indisposed she became Queen Regent. All was well, until, other Undeads started showing up to claim the throne she believed belonged to her.
Needless to say, successions are quite bloody in Dark Souls. These undeads were led by the Emerald Herald, aka Shanalotte. Based on her aged feather, she was probably an ancient dragon which escapes the onslaught. She might also be Syth the Scaleless brat. If I remember correctly, Syth had feathers in his tail, just like the girl from the painted world. She probably escaped after Lord Gwyn went bye, bye.
Dark Souls 1 hinted at the fact of a Dark Secret society which was trying to put one of their own on the throne. I think when Nashandra made the curse worse than better; it came time for a change in management. Some talks speculate, the dark magic existed at the time of the dragons. The undead curse was probably a warped version of an immortality spell. After all, undead’s inability to die makes them akin to Gods… if only they could stop losing their souls.
If you think about it, Nashandra’s curse was different than the original undead curse. This one kills the undead. She found a way to kill what could not be slain. She did this to avoid another Dark Souls 1. Heck, she even went as far as to pretend to be a cat to monitor the process of her competition.
Methinks she was modeled after the general trend of winners from Dark Souls 1. According to stats, the best players from Dark Souls 1 were magical chicks. Perhaps, Nashandra was the winner of Dark Souls 1, the one who became queen of the brontosaurs. When she did not kindle the flames, the Darkness grew. She had been ruling from the shadows ever since.
I suppose that is enough on the storyline. I could not follow most of it. Frankly, the first part was a lot more depressing and the world was a hell of a lot bigger. Then again, it may have felt bigger because I had to walk on foot most of the time. In this new Dark Souls, they give you less Estus flask. You sorta have to struggle a lot to get the maximum amount, being 12 flasks, improved to the 5th level. Monster wise, the knights were smaller and the monster a tad less varied.
Boss wise, I found the bosses in Dark Souls 1 a lot harder. Let us take Lord Gwyn for example; he was a think fast kinda boss. My favorite part was when he kindled the fire in you. Unlike the first Dark Souls I played this one with online help. I got online around the Sinner’s Rise.
Because of the experience I got from the boss, this spot became my training ground. At lot of players usually circulate around that spot. There are usually not a lot of invaders, since they prefer to hang out in Belfry Luna. There I earned most of my sunlight metals.
Covenant wise, I settled in the Dark Covenant. I liked it because it made my dark spells stronger. I killed most of my bosses using the spell affinity. The irony was that the final boss was immune to darkness.
It was a good thing I had my back up lightning. Between my online pals and me, we killed Nashandra in less than 30 seconds. I started panicking when I got too closed to her Evil Curse sprites. Around the end, I lost a bit too much HP. When the online players saw my HP dropping, they redoubled their lightning efforts. With Nashandra, speed is the key.
Speaking of bosses, the worst Boss I had to fight was the Charioteer. The presentation and the dead were so cool. He was mostly responsible for me to switch my tactics all together. Because of him, I used 90 levels on defense based stats. I got the basic 20 of all stats and then some.
The second time I fought for real, I fought him with my Havel armor. I used my dragon shield as a weapon to kill the dead and their casters. After his helpers died, the rest was easy. I started worrying around the end, when his chariot broke. I almost half expected the bastard to come at me from behind.
When I killed this boss, I got assess to the bloody covenant. I joined for a bit because I hoped it would make my Uchigatana’s bleeding attack stronger. Too soon, did I learn bleeding sucks in Dark Souls 2. Seriously! In Dark Souls 1, I used to use the blade as my secondary weapon. It was a way to preserve my spells for the bosses. The Uchigatana in Dark Souls 2 sucked! Heck, most of the Weapons sucked in this game. Only recently did I make a weapon which did not suck.
My weapon of choice as of now is the Moonlight Blade. This one scales with magic. It is also fast for a greatsword. It also has a big attack. Pity it breaks after 5 big shots… For a fiddle stick, I use a staff dropped by a witch. It uses Magic and Miracles. Recently, I started improving the Dragon Chime, to shoot bigger lightning.
For a while, I tried to go wear mage armor. However, an invader attack and few beatings got me to wear the Havel’s Armor indefinitely. My favorite mage armor was the Xantus armor. I was disappointed to see the hat had been shrunk. In the last Dark Souls, it was a ridiculously huge bandaged. I liked to wear the armor because it made my girl look like a lunatic. Those were the days; overall, all armors and warrior weapons suck.
I did not like the randomness of the level. They added too many variables. Somehow, I ended up having proficiency for darkness. I obtained the Soul of Darkness from the dead dragon. This leaves me to believe the Dark Magic originated from the Dragons.
World wise, there was not a dungeon I liked in Dark Souls 2. They were all so iffy. I worst dungeons, if you can call it a dungeon was Belfry Sol and Luna. A lot of jerks liked to hang out there to beat you up if you try to ring the bell. I usually get through that place like by ringing the before the enemy has a chance to establish a connection.
The last things I want to mention are the computer weirdoes. You get most of the storyline via conversations or by the vibes of the souls you keep. I liked a lot the story of Lucatiel. She was a pretty depressing chick trying to fight off the undead Curse. I think she got cursed in her job as a knight. Those who worked closets to the King and Queen developed quite the Dark Souls. Get it! Dark Souls! The second weirdo which I liked was the crazy chaos mage who told me to kill people. He was a riot, with his creepy evil voice.
According to my psychology book, there is no such thing as multiple personality disorder. The closet’s thing to it is bipolarism. Still, it is a popular modality in the fictional world. Psychology wise, the chaos mage was simply pulling your leg by pretending to be good when you were human.
He was obviously sealed away for being a jerk. He only showed his true colors when you were hollowed because he thought you would be more influential, being brain dead and all. The human effigy only makes you look and feel human. The evil cat said you smelled rotten flesh, and reclaiming your humanity did nothing to fix your rotting brain. Then again, humanities were in short supply in Dark Souls 2. All you had to work with was a stupid human effigy that sometimes got the gender wrong. The thing relied on your ever fading memory.
On a final note, I did not like the ghost in this world. I also did not like to get a beating from the mock dragon, hollowed Vendrick, the Lost Sinner level 10 (when my internet helper died for being reckless), the ugly rotten, and the wheel angel skeletons. When it comes to online playing, it was an interesting experience. I did invade a few people. The experience was overrated.
I heard in Dark Signs the server could handle a lot more weirdoes. I did assist kill a hell of a lot of bosses. I was able to get enough sunlight medals to get the covenant up to level 2. Pity, I went over to the Dark Side. Still, that did not stop me from lending a hand.
Fidelity Token wise, I have about 17. It doesn’t sound like a lot, but I have only played for 107 hours. Most of the assisted kills were against the Lost Sinner, the armored triplets, the Mirror Knight and King Vendrick’s Shadow Lover Knight. I think he was the reason the King did not produce an heir.
Well, this is all speculation on my end. Dark Souls’ storyline is ambiguous enough for you to get creative with the storyline. Call it an old Final Fantasy 7 trick. Usually, queens are less jerky when they have a little puppet prince. She must have wanted a kid seeing as though she made the weird little guys at Belfry Sol and Luna.
Undeads must always live in the present, for they have no more past, and their future is ambiguous. It takes someone with a strong will to see the undead condition as a gift and not a curse. Well, those are my final thoughts on Dark Souls 2. I hope I humored you a little bit.
Dragon’s Dogma Dark Arisen Game Review
Recently, I bought the rerelease of dragon’s dogma. All I had to show for my previous purchase were 100,000 rifs crystals and an eternal ferrystone. This consolation price was a bight annoying but whatever. I am not here to dis Capcom. Since I had my old file, I continued from where I left off with all the add ons.
I took a detour to Bitterblack Isle. Something about that Island reminded me a bit of dark souls. This suspicion was confirmed when a shopkeeper gave me a dark souls greeting. At mere level 100, I found the monsters pretty hard to beat. Luckily, I had my dark souls reflexes so it was not too hard to get back in the game.
Another interesting thing was the whole dungeon experience. Dark Souls is more of a dungeon, in comparison to dragon dogma that prefers wide open spaces.
Another interesting element was the monsters. When you slay them, their rotting corpses stay in the field. It is a very gory sight. This attracts bigger monster who like to eat them. And then, there were the mimic chest which eat you.
Also, if you carry too many wakestones death comes to kill you. Death is quite the creepy SOB. He is the traditional grim reaper except he has a lantern. He only has two attacks. The lantern which puts you to sleep and the death scythe which kills you. The first ones to die against Death are usually the pawns. When death gets them, you do not get a grace period. You need to get them from the rift.
This fancy dungeon also comes with a lot more drakes. There are even more the second time around. One of the most interesting battles where against a fire and ice drake. It was like fighting dueling dragon's roller coaster. These things were closed to the final boss, so they putted a strain on your wakestones.
The first time around you find an abandoned town just before the final boss. The second time around there is 2 lightning dragons. When you slay them, their corpses attract an undead dragon. On the ground, there are 7 Minotaur and 3 living armors guarding the gate to the boss man.
Speaking of the boss man, he is more of a demon than a dragon person. He has a dragon mouth in his body all sewed up. The boss man has strength and magic powers. It is recommended that you fight him from far away. You get a good chance to nail him when he does this giant blue green attack. If you make him flinch, you do not lose a pawn.
High ingle level 3 is a good spell to make him flinch. You can find there some good, rings with level 3 magic. The level two boss man you fight him the second time you complete the maze. It is like fighting two bosses in a row. The odd dragon mouth in his belly starts talking. This form is always flying. Climbing it is not an option because of his fast spell casting.
On top of everything, if you do manage to reach his weakspot, it either eats you or shoots fire at you. Like everyone who has ever played the game, it is best to fight the beast as a magical archer. The blue ice attack is a good option to making the bastard flinch. Overall, you will need at least 20 wakestones to survive the beast.
FIY keep an eye for his invisible dragon spirit punches. Those invisible dragon claws hurt a lot. Also try not to let the creepiness of the beast get you. Most of the time, creepy monsters just psyche you out and keep you from focusing on the battle. Well, that is just about everything worth mentioning about the rerelease of dragon’s dogma. Overall, it’s a pretty cool, scary game.
